SpeeDx celebrates 10th Birthday with further US$10M investment.

SpeeDx celebrated its 10th birthday recently and capped off the celebration by securing an additional equity investment of US$10M from their US-based partner Northpond Ventures, to support expansion into the US market and to strengthen strategic relationships with global collaborators. To top that, they have just fulfilled their first $AUD1M order and have been named one of 20 organisations who will create an Industrial Transformation Research Hub to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance.

Flurosat raises $4.6M in funding!

Another big congratulations to Cicada resident and agronomic analytics start-up FluroSat on landing a $4.6M funding round, backed by Microsoft’s venture fund M12, Costanoa Ventures, Space Capital, Artesian/GRDC GrainInnovate Fund, Artesian Clean Energy Seed Fund, along with existing investors including CSIRO’s Main Sequence Ventures, AirTree Ventures and Muru-D.

The investment will fuel Flurosat's global expansion to provide farmers and agronomists with actionable insights into crop health improving yields and farm productivity. Congratulations!


Beyond 700 sets sights on MDF Funding

Congratulations to Cicada MedLab and MDTCP graduate Beyond 700, who was recently awarded $830,000 from the NSW Health Medical Devices Fund. Beyond 700 will use the funding to further develop a camera that enables real time visibility of the usually invisible tear film of the eye, to enable more effective diagnosis of eye surface diseases. 


CANBERRA MEETS CICADA!

The Hon Karen Andrews, Federal Minister for Innovation, recently met with the diverse cohort based at Cicada Innovations, including energy tech company Gelion who are working on renewable battery storage solutions, molecular diagnostics company SpeeDx Pty Ltd who are working on detecting and combating superbugs, and agrifood tech company InvertiGro who are aiming to feed the world the smarter way using modular smart farming systems. All truly inspiring Australian companies solving major global problems.

The Federal Minister for Energy, the Hon Angus Taylor also had the opportunity to meet energy tech companies Gelion and Envizi during a recent visit to Cicada.

Senator Arthur Sinodinos AO and the Hon. Gabrielle Upton, Parliamentary Secretary to the NSW Premier also paid recent visits to Cicada and our cohort.
